Great War tree carvings can still be found - often near army camps or training areas
The initial C.L and the date 1916 found carved in a beech tree near Liddington Hill, Chiseldon. The copse is very close to Great War training trenches and a rifle range.
A number of Commonwealth forces trained in Wiltshire. These included the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF). This arborglyph is carved into a beech tree in Barrow Clump on the Salisbury Plain.
